Our Story

Desert Ministries is a 501(c)3 community outreach nonprofit, dedicated to serving those in need within our community. Founded in the Hurricane Valley of southern Utah, Desert Ministries works with families and individuals in Hurricane, Utah and the surrounding area. As an organization, Desert Ministries has no paid employees—every penny raised goes directly into one of several core service programs.

One of these programs is the Zion Giving Garden. Located in Hurricane, Utah, the Zion Giving Garden aims to provided locally grown produce directly to families and individuals in need. After many hours of turning an empty plot into a functioning growing space, the garden will begin its inaugural season this spring, 2023. We aim to be able to provide for 50 individuals with hopes to double that each consecutive year.

Another program, the Zion Adventure Club, addresses the elevated substance use and suicide statistics in Southern Utah by providing enriching outdoor recreation opportunities for local youth. Staffed by professionals in the outdoor industry, the program meets weekly—taking participants mountain biking, rock climbing, canyoneering and hiking. Currently in its second year, the Zion Adventure Club is excited about continuing to expand and serve the kids in our community!

In addition to established programs, Desert Ministries organizes annual clothing, food and school supply drives throughout the year. Free tutoring and homework help is also available to local students.

We are a small, grassroots organization founded on the principals of humility and service to our community. We are entirely dependent upon the support and generosity of others. Your donations are greatly appreciated.
